Beyond Maya: The Core of My Passions

It’s funny how we don’t quite know how our unique journey in life is going to unfold, yet when we look back we can begin to see all the amazing connections and stepping stones that needed to happen to get us to where we are now. It’s only when we’re further along the path that we’re able to see how all the experiences, learnings, and desires have led us right where we need to be, challenges and all.

For a number of years, since overcoming the period in my life where I really had no clue who I was or what I wanted to do with my life, things have shifted dramatically as I’ve focused on my inner growth and developing my understanding of systems and knowledge that inspire and call to me. This includes Germanic Healing Knowledge, Human Design, A Course In Miracles, Chakra Balancing, and martial arts, all wrapped in a non-dual, spiritual perspective. :)

What’s fascinating, and what I love about these systems, tools, and bodies of knowledge most, is that I’m finding they all intersect and lead to the same spiritual truth. That is, to become liberated, meaning to live a life of freedom, sublime and unconditional love for the self and others (which then brings countless other blessings such as healing, peace of mind, consciousness expansion, etc.) it’s necessary to release our false conditioning and recognize our true, spiritual nature.

Because part of being human in this day and age is being been born into a world that is swept up in illusion. And I don’t mean simply an illusion of a material world (because life is, in actuality, a dream, although a very vivid one)!

On an even deeper level is the illusion of being a person, in a body, separate from the whole. I know… it’s a hard concept to swallow at first, especially for the ego, yet this is what non-dualism teaches and what many of the great religions and spiritual teachers have been pointing us towards.

When we’re able to pierce through these veils of Maya, or “illusion,” we tap into our greater Self, the aspect of us that never split off into infinite forms of consciousness and material “reality.” And while this reality may not be what we initial perceive it to be, what it does is it allows each of us to take the hero’s journey back to discovering the Real Self.

Much like the salmon swims upstream of the river to return to it’s birthplace, our individual souls go on an epic odyssey back to our Source, experiencing both the thrill and the difficulties in doing so. Yet the epitome of Self-realization is coming back to this understanding that we never left to begin with. This is the divine paradox in which we exist!

I don’t believe it’s any coincidence that the things I’ve become passionate about the last ten to fifteen years or so are all coalescing and reminding me of these higher truths. Because as I’ve come to the realization that I am simply a character in this grand adventure and game of life, the more I clear myself of false beliefs, notions, and conditioning (i.e. illusion) and able act as a clear channel for Source, or God consciousness, to work through. It is in that state that one is liberated and able to live ‘beyond Maya’ with full awareness of the light of the One Self.
